About the Project

Homereg

The homelab identity layer for your bare metal.

The Aim of the Project

Homereg was born out of a simple frustration: paying annual fees for fully public, ICANN-regulated domain names just to route traffic inside a private homelab is absurd. Homelabbers build complex, beautiful infrastructure in their basements, but securing it with legitimate SSL certificates usually requires public DNS validation or extremely annoying internal CA management.

Our goal is to provide a dedicated, free namespace (.xc.mk) that you can use to programmatically map your internal services. We aim to be the identity layer for your bare metal.

Not an ICANN Registrar

It is critically important to understand that Homereg is not an ICANN accredited registrar. The domains you register here are delegated from a custom root zone operated by us. This is an experimental project intended for homelabbers, tinkerers, and developers.

Do not use these domains for your primary public business website. They are intended for internal routing, dynamic DNS to home IPs, and learning.

Critical Infrastructure Warning

Warning: While we utilize robust technologies (like PostgreSQL and EPP registries), uptime is ensured on a best-effort basis but is not guaranteed. You should never route mission-critical medical, financial, or production infrastructure through our DNS delegations.
